Hotel, campus, office and some national networks block VPNs on purpose. The RoTunneling VPN app is built to get through: it tests the network, finds a path that is allowed and connects you to our servers in Bucharest, with a Romanian IP and unlimited traffic.
Most VPN protocols have a recognisable signature: fixed ports, a distinctive handshake, traffic patterns that deep packet inspection (DPI) can spot. A network that wants to stop VPNs simply drops that traffic, or lets it through so slowly that it becomes useless.
You do not have to choose anything: keep the server on Automatic and press Connect.
The RoTunneling VPN app with all six transport modes runs on Windows 10 and 11, Linux (Debian, Ubuntu) and Android. On macOS, iOS and routers you can connect with OpenVPN (TCP 443) or L2TP/IPsec; on Windows, SSTP also runs over TCP 443. See the downloads page for every option.
In most cases, yes: if the network lets you browse HTTPS sites, the app can usually connect through one of its transport modes. No method can promise to pass every block, so try it during your first days and write to [email protected] if it does not connect.
The app always tries the fastest mode first. The fallback modes for very strict networks favour getting through over raw speed, so they are used only when the faster modes are blocked.
No. The app discovers what the network allows and picks the transport and port by itself. Advanced users can still adjust ports and transports in the Performance settings.
