Pick the server and protocol: UDP (port 1194, default) or TCP (port 443, if UDP is blocked).

Steps

  1. Install OpenVPN Connect from the App Store.
  2. On your iPhone/iPad, open Safari and download the .ovpn profile for your chosen server with the buttons above. Safari offers "Open in OpenVPN Connect" / "Copy to OpenVPN".
  3. Confirm the profile import in the app.
  4. Enter your username and password, then toggle the connect switch.
  5. On first connect, iOS asks to approve the new VPN configuration — tap Allow.

Troubleshooting

  • File won't open in OpenVPN Connect: download via Safari (other browsers may lack "Open in"); alternatively AirDrop/email the file and open with "Share > OpenVPN".
  • Wi-Fi blocks UDP: use _TCP.ovpn.
