Server values

Server UDP host (1194) TCP host (443)
Romania 1 buc-1.rotunneling.net buc-1.rotunneling.net (port 443)
Romania 2 buc-2.rotunneling.net buc-2.rotunneling.net (port 443)

Authentication: your RoTunneling account username and password.

OpenVPN profiles (.ovpn) for every server

Romania 1 (UDP) Romania 1 (TCP)

Romania 2 (UDP) Romania 2 (TCP)

All profiles in one archive (.zip, all servers)

Pick the server and protocol: UDP (port 1194, default) or TCP (port 443, if UDP is blocked).

NetworkManager (GUI)

  1. Install the OpenVPN plugin:

sudo apt update && sudo apt install network-manager-openvpn-gnome

  1. Download the config profile with the buttons above, or from a terminal: wget https://www.rotunneling.net/openvpn_c/Romania-1.ovpn (Romania-2 and the _TCP variants follow the same pattern).
  2. Settings > Network > VPN > "+" > Import from file..., pick the .ovpn file.
  3. On first connect, enter your account username and password; check "All users may connect" if needed.

CLI (openvpn)

  1. Install the client:

sudo apt install openvpn

  1. Download the config for your chosen server (see table above).
  2. Connect:

sudo openvpn --config Romania-1.ovpn

  1. When prompted for Enter Auth Username/Password, enter your RoTunneling account credentials. For unattended connections, create auth.txt with username on line 1 and password on line 2, then add auth-user-pass auth.txt to the .ovpn file.

Troubleshooting

  • AUTH_FAILED: double-check the website username/password; also check system clock drift (TLS).
  • UDP 1194 blocked: use the _TCP.ovpn file (port 443).
  • NetworkManager doesn't auto-connect at boot: enable "Automatically connect" in the profile settings.
