The RoTunneling VPN app for Windows 10 and Windows 11 (64-bit) connects to our Bucharest servers in one click and finds the best path through your network on its own.
Install
- Recommended: install the app from the Microsoft Store. Updates are automatic.
- Or download the digitally signed installer: Download .exe (64-bit). Run it and confirm the Windows User Account Control (UAC) prompt.
- The installation replaces RoTunneling VPN 5 automatically, if you have it.
Connect
- Open RoTunneling VPN, enter your RoTunneling username and password and press Log in.
- Under Server, keep Automatic (fastest) or pick Romania 1 or Romania 2.
- Press Connect. When the status shows Protected, your traffic leaves from Romania.
You do not need to set ports or protocols. The app tests the network and uses the transport mode that works: TCP with UDP acceleration, UDP, DNS or ICMP, and on very strict networks a cloud relay or WebSocket over a CDN. Every mode starts like a browser, on port 443.
Useful settings
- Kill switch: blocks internet traffic if the VPN disconnects. It is off by default.
- Connect when the app starts: connects automatically when you open the app.
- Proxy settings: for networks that require an HTTP proxy, with an optional username and password.
- Performance: keep Automatic (recommended). The app measures the network and picks the fastest stable settings.
- Diagnostics: speed tests and connection history.
- The notification area icon opens the quick panel, where you can connect or disconnect.
- From a terminal (PowerShell or Command Prompt) you can use the
rotunneling command: rotunneling status, rotunneling connect, rotunneling disconnect.
Troubleshooting
- "Wrong username or password": use your rotunneling.net account details. If you forgot the password, press Forgot password? in the app.
- "Connection limit reached": your subscription allows a fixed number of devices connected at the same time. Disconnect another device or choose a subscription with more connections.
- "The VPN component failed to start": if two copies of the app are installed (Microsoft Store and .exe), uninstall one and reopen the app.
- "No RoTunneling server is reachable": check your internet connection. If your network requires a proxy, fill it in under Proxy settings.
- Slow or unstable connection: in Diagnostics press Delete tests and reset learning, then connect again.
- As an alternative without the app, you can use SSTP or OpenVPN. For any problem, write to [email protected].
