Overview

The most reliable method on Windows 11: use the RoTunneling desktop app (recommended, includes auto-connect) or a standalone OpenVPN client.

Server values (pick one of the 2 Romania servers)

Server UDP host (1194) TCP host (443, firewall bypass)
Romania 1 buc-1.rotunneling.net buc-1.rotunneling.net (port 443)
Romania 2 buc-2.rotunneling.net buc-2.rotunneling.net (port 443)

Authentication: your RoTunneling website username and password (same account used to sign in on rotunneling.net).

OpenVPN profiles (.ovpn) for every server

Romania 1 (UDP) Romania 1 (TCP)

Romania 2 (UDP) Romania 2 (TCP)

All profiles in one archive (.zip, all servers)

Pick the server and protocol: UDP (port 1194, default) or TCP (port 443, if UDP is blocked).

Steps (RoTunneling app, recommended)

  1. Download the app from Download the RoTunneling app for Windows.
  2. Install and launch the RoTunneling VPN app.
  3. Enter your account username and password.
  4. Pick a server (Romania 1/2) and click Connect.

Steps (manual OpenVPN client)

  1. Install OpenVPN Connect for Windows or OpenVPN GUI.
  2. Download the config profile for your chosen server with the buttons above (UDP by default). If UDP 1194 is blocked, use the TCP variant (port 443).
  3. Import the .ovpn file into the client.
  4. Enter your RoTunneling account username and password when prompted.
  5. Right-click the tray icon > Connect.

Troubleshooting

  • "AUTH_FAILED": make sure you are using your current website password; reset it if you changed it recently.
  • Networks that block UDP: use the _TCP.ovpn file (port 443), or the secondary port-53 remote line already in the config.
  • Windows Defender Firewall: allow openvpn.exe / RoTunneling.exe on private and public networks.
  • Source for client behavior: OpenVPN Connect (openvpn.net), checked 2026-09-25.
