SSTP (Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol) helps on restrictive networks that block OpenVPN/L2TP, since the tunnel rides over TCP port 443, indistinguishable from regular HTTPS traffic.

Values

Field Value
Server Romania 1: buc-1.rotunneling.net
Romania 2: buc-2.rotunneling.net
VPN type SSTP (Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol)
Username / Password Your RoTunneling account

Steps

  1. Settings > Network & internet > VPN > Add VPN.
  2. VPN provider: Windows (built-in).
  3. Server name or address: pick a host.
  4. VPN type: Automatic, or Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol (SSTP) if listed explicitly.
  5. Type of sign-in info: User name and password, enter your account.
  6. Connect.

Troubleshooting

  • Error 0x800704C9 / untrusted certificate: SSTP needs a valid certificate chain on the server; if your browser warns about the server's certificate, contact the RoTunneling support team.
  • If SSTP isn't listed explicitly under "VPN type", choose Automatic — Windows negotiates SSTP automatically when other protocols are blocked.
